Please Note: No meeting next week because of Memorial Day.
The Newport Center Toastmasters Club Meeting on May 23, was attended by 20 members.
The theme was: Inventions – The word of the day was: Gong-Ho
The winners were:

New Business:
- Pamela will be on a leave for a couple of weeks. Someone will need to help with the SAA duties.
- Les made a motion to move funds to the reserve account for equipment to replace the cost of the camera.
It passed. It already is one of the rules of the club.

The Newport Center Toastmasters Club Meeting on May 16, was attended by 22 members, and two guests, Maki (2nd visit) and Area Governor, Christine.
The theme was: Movies – The word of the day was: Histrionic

Old Business:
- Last week, treasurer Alex was asked to make sure the club had the funds for the purchase of the camera. Alex reported that there is enough money in the account.
- Ballots were given to all members to elect new officers. As VPEducation, there were two names, David and Mark. Mark explained that he will be traveling in the next several months and he would not be available to perform the duties. That changed the list of officers to:
President: Adrian
VP Education: David
VP Public Relations: Mark
VP Membership: Larry
Treasurer: Alex
Secretary: Colette
Sergeant-at-Arms: Mohammad and Cindy (Our club has two)
Parliamentarian: Dr. Bob
Webmaster: Carl
David made the motion to cast a single vote for all of the candidates. The motion passed.
New Business:
- Pamela mentioned that some of the wires used for our equipment need to be replaced.

Old Business:
- Dr Bob moved that the club buy the camera as discussed in a previous meeting. The price is less than $500. The motion passed.
- Pamela purchased a new remote control for $54. Colette moved to have the club refund her. The motion passed.
- Officers need to be chosen and have the vote next week since the training will be June 3rd.
- President Mark asked for volunteers for each office. The offices and names are as follows:
President: Adrian
VP Education: Mark and David
VP Public Relations: David and Mark
VP Membership: Larry
Treasurer: Alex (It has been recommended to have him serve a second term because of the problem with a change at the bank)
Secretary: Colette
Sergeant-at-Arms: Mohammad and Cindy (Our club has two)
Parliamentarian: Dr. Bob
Webmaster: Carl (We need to ask him)
The club will vote next week.

Old Business:
- Mark reported that the Japanese Restaurant KITAYAMA at 101 Bayview Place in Newport Beach has a room to accommodate 50 for the July 10 installation of officers. It was voted to go there.
New Business:
- New volunteer officers have to be chosen by the club as soon as possible. The following week they will be elected.
The training for these new officers will be June 4th.
- Pamela is working with the Irvine Company to use their overhead projector.
- Sandra suggested to have a meeting where the evaluators would be together and would give feedback after each speech. More to come.
