The August 29 meeting of the Newport Center Toastmasters Club was attended by 23 members and one guest: Joe (Zhuo) (3rd visit).

Joe (Zhuo) is added to our new roster. Please refer to another email message for the updated roster.

Old Business:
- Dues are due now and can be mailed to Alex.
They have to be turned in to HQ before the last week of September. Only those received by then will be turned in.

New Business:

- A new member was added to our roster, Joe (Zhuo). Welcome Joe.

- Stephen invited everyone to a seminar in Laguna Beach. He has sent mail with the information.
- Cindy reminded all that it important to come early when we need the computer for our presentation and it would help if we were to send email to the Sergeant-at-arms prior to the meeting when we need the computer.
- Mark recommended that we change our sign to reflect the new Toastmasters logo. He also suggested to buy a new banner with the new logo. The cost would be $125.

The August 22 meeting of the Newport Center Toastmasters Club was attended by 21 members and four guests: CJ (4th visit), Marianne (3rd visit), Zhuo (2nd visit) and Yong (first visit) .

A separate email message was sent earlier with the new roster that includes two new members, CJ and Marianne.

Old Business:
- A motion from last week to keep the total amount of dues at $75 was discussed. The club’s portion to be lowered to $39 and the portion to International to be $36. The current dues have been $48 for the club and $27 to International for a total of $75.
The motion was passed.

New Business:

Two new members were added to our roster, CJ and Marianne. Welcome CJ and Marianne.

The August 15 meeting of the Newport Center Toastmasters Club was attended by 22 members and four guests: CJ (3rd visit), Marianne (2nd visit), Zhuo and Pascal (both first visit) .

Old Business:
- Since we need to replace VP Membership, Sandra has accepted to be the replacement. Colette made a motion to accept Sandra as VP Membership. The motion passed. Welcome Sandra.

New Business:

- Les used two separate cameras this morning because one is not working well enough. Purchasing the new one would serve us better. No motion.
- Also our computer is not working properly and it needs to be replaced. No motion.
- Mark spoke to one of our former member Mel. Mel has had another liver transplant but is not recuperating well and he also is having eye problems. Mark suggested that we include Mel in our prayers.
- Carl set up an email inquiry on our website and it is working well because Colette had three inquiries during the week. Thanks Carl.
- David pointed out that Toastmasters International is raising the dues by $9 from $27 to $36 every six months. He suggested to lower our club dues by the same $9 from $48 to $39 in order to remain at $75 for six months. A discussion about the amount currently available did not result in a motion. It will have to be done this week in order to have members send their dues to our treasurer, Alex who will then send them on time to HQ.

The August 8 meeting of the Newport Center Toastmasters Club was attended by 18 members and two guests: CJ (2nd visit), and Marianne (1st visit).

- Carl organized the free Google phone message service for the club. It worked well this week.
- Carl also the Irvine Company’s name on our website, since they allow us to use their facilities with free parking.

New Business:

- Dr. Bob informed us of the increase in dues for the upcoming six months. International will now be $36 instead of $27. This will make our dues $84 instead of $75.

- Michael’s website which he presented to us on July 18, has been on “Good Morning America” and is being viewed all over the world. Congratulations, Michael
- Two trophies are missing. At the meeting when a member wins a trophy it is to remain here and not taken home.
- David reminded us to always shake hands after each presentation as a sign of returning control of the meeting.
- Les will not be here next week and needs someone to take care of the camera. Michelle volunteered.
- Two new members were inducted in the club, Stephen and Jeffrey. Welcome Stephen and Jeffrey.
