The October 31 meeting of the Newport Center Toastmasters Club was attended by 23 members and one guest, Eston (1st visit).
The theme was: “Halloween” – The word of the day was: “hallow”.

Old Business:
- New officers are to be elected. Tracy has volunteered to be Sergeant-at-Arms.
- Bob suggested to follow the Consumers’ Report which is currently conducting a research.
- Kip suggested to have the installation in December instead of January. The only problem is the awards for members with three wins. David has a plan to help this situation. The installation will be on December 11 instead of January 8.
New Business:
- Les suggested to listen the new DVD he has been giving us. They should be improved.
- Les also pointed out that to have our computer work for the Power Point, F7 has to be pushed.
- Les purchased memory for the camera because the one we have does not last long enough. A motion to refund him about $35 was passed.
- Chris announced that today and tomorrow, there is a seminar in LA with well known speakers.
- David will send a draft version of the schedule today. Please let him know of any problem with your personal schedule.

The October 24 meeting of the Newport Center Toastmasters Club was attended by 27 members.
The theme was: “Oktoberfest” – The word of the day was: “ferly”.

Old Business:
- Les explained that the club’s computer is no longer reliable. A motion was made to assign Bob to look into buying a new one and bring the information to the club.
- David mentioned that Veteran’s Day is coming and ask if the club will meet. Since the building will be opened there will be a meting.
New Business:
- Les brought his own speakers for his speech this morning. If anyone intends to use speakers, s/he must bring theirs. He also mentioned that the same applies to the clicker.
- Les also pointed out that the cable needs to be replaced.
- Les will email the video on “Cardiac Arrest” which was his speech topic this morning.
- It was mentioned that Tom prepared a special sheet for the Wizard of Ah’s. It provides an easier way to follow the added crutches from the members. Thank you, Tom
- Giselle has been working assiduously on updating and organizing the hand-out for the explanation of the duties. Les and Bob are adding their comments on each revision. When it’s all done, Colette will forward it to all and Carl will have it on the website. Thank you so much, Giselle.
- Colette went to purchase new pins and found that depending on silver or color, the price is either $5 or $6 per pin when bought in a pack of 12. She asked members if pins were worth purchasing since no one seems to wear one. A motion to discontinue the pins was made and it passed.
