The February 6 meeting of the Newport Center Toastmasters Club was attended by 20 members and 4 guests: Travis ( 6th visit), Norm (4th visit), David (3rd visit), David (1st visit).

Two guests were inducted as members: Travis Linneweber and Norm Lytle. Welcome to the club.

Note: There will be no meeting on 20th of February.

- Three members, David, Sandra, Colette, are going inactive to allow guests to join our club. They will still be: President, assistant Area Governor, Secretary, but will not have regular assignments. Hot-seat may apply to them.

- Michele attended a seminar on Job-Seeking. It was given by a former member and president of our club, John Hall.
- Les suggested to have a word-of-the-day that we can use more easily.
- Two new members were inducted; Norm and Travis. Welcome Norm and Travis.
- Colette asked if the three-ring binder would be more productive if it were simply sent by email as a pdf file. She said that it would be easier to keep and accessed. The members felt that they prefer the paper copy. The motion to go paperless failed.
- There will be no meeting on 20th of February.

- David reminded us that one of our rules mentioned that if we miss three times in a row without a good excuse our name goes on the inactive list.

New Business:
- Stephen bought a case for all our equipment. A motion to refund him for the cost was passed.

- Carl bought a storage for the contents of our speeches for $28. A motion to refund him was passed. Les will use it for our speeches. Carl also is donating a $100 storage unit.
- Carl reminded us to use our Competent Leadership manual and bring it to all our meetings.

- Les emphasized the importance of being responsible for our assigned roles.

- Mark gave directions for the photos he and Stephen will be taking.
- Carl reminded us that for the Competent Leader accomplishment, we need to have our manual filled in by a member. That is one of the goals needed by the club to be President’s Distinguished.
- Michael suggested to remember to add our Toastmasters accomplishments on our résumé.
- Dr. Bob mentioned that when we speak to a group of 12 or more people we need to stand to help the audience know who is speaking.

- Tracy explained that the Irvine Company asked us to remove everything in the storage in the kitchen This means that we can no longer have storage for coffee. Les suggested that we still keep cups and tea there and use the microwave. He added that there are items there from the Irvine Company now. Hopefully our supply will not cause any problems.
- Our outgoing VP Membership, Sandra, will email the latest list of mentors.

New Business:
- There will be no meeting on December 26 and January 2.

- Winners from today and next week will be added to the list from the last six months and anyone winning a third time will receive an award as did the ones presented at the installation.

- Sandra mentioned a new club that meets on first and third Saturday. They could use help and also offer a chance to give additional speeches.
- Roberto’s office is having a drive to help two poor families, on December 16. If anyone is willing to contribute he will make sure it is given to them. He will send email with more information.
- Christi suggested to bring gifts for the drive at the installation. CJ offered to wrap them.
- Carl announced that we will have a speech contest in February. Everyone is welcome to enter. The winner will go to the Area Contest.

New Business:
- The Irvine Company is remodeling and we have to remove all our supplies. The Company has been exceedingly generous to allow us the space. We now need to take care of our own paraphernalia. The supplies were divided among several cooperative members.
